Solstice Day

Our 15th birthday at Murano was celebrated as a Solstice Day party rejoicing the longest “sunniest day” throughout the year.

It began with a test of vigor, dexterity and cunning of the participants followed by earnest fray between those who passed. The best prevailed.

At nightfall, we all met as dear friends in Kupala’s night embrace with its conventional uniting funs: round dances, fortune-tellings, weaving and then releasing wreaths, jumping over the fire, all surrounded by old yet familiar tunes.
